It’s amazing how God connects people. The other day I took a few minutes and did a little exercise: I retraced the relational links God has used in my life. These links shows me that I never meet anyone by chance. It also prompted me to give people who have acted as a link some feedback. Let me give you a practical example …
Five years ago Hercules van Wyk walked into Woodmen Valley Chapel in Colorado, he sat there and ‘felt’ that Woodmen and our church in South Africa had a lot in common. He came back and proposed a partnership. A bunch of Woodmen’s staff visited in 2000, later that year Lollie and I quit our jobs (due to burnout and other factors) and found ourselves on staff at Woodmen. After two years at Woodmen, Lollie and I pastored a group of people called Pierced Chapel. Early 2003 we felt God’s call back to South Africa to plant a church, in June our friends from Pierced Chapel visited us and we visited our friend Schalk in Mozambique. While we were there we listened to a local farmer lament the fact that he couldn’t get financing at a bank to buy a tractor. Someone in the group felt God’s leading to make a tractor happen through a financial contribution. I can go on … And it all started with Hercules! I’m amazed at how God links people.
With that said I’m linking with two new friends and conversations, both in Canada. Idelette (who is a South African) and Mike Todd. Enjoy!
